Karnataka Cabinet Expands to 20 Ministers Under Shivakumar
Karnataka is a state in India.
The main political party, the Congress, decided to add more people to the state government.
They chose 20 new ministers, which means 20 new leaders will help run the state.
They also picked GS Patil to be the speaker of the state assembly, which is like the head of the group that makes laws.
The plan was delayed a bit because they wanted to make sure people from different backgrounds and areas were included.
The new ministers will take an oath, or promise, to do their jobs around 4 p.m.
today.
Congress chairman Mallikarjun Kharge approved the final list of 20 ministerial candidates for Karnataka.
Chief Minister DK Shivakumar will expand his cabinet to 20 ministers, with swearing‑in around 4 p.m.
GS Patil has been endorsed as the next Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
The expansion was delayed from July 31 due to negotiations in Delhi and considerations of caste, religion, and regional balance.
