Indore Intensifies Festival Food Safety Inspections After 965 Checks

Indore officials are checking food more carefully before festivals.

They will pay special attention to sweets, snacks, dairy products and cooking oils.

The checks are meant to help stop food that is adulterated or below standards from being sold.

Officials also inspect cleanliness and hygiene in places such as restaurants, schools and hostels.

Between April and September 2026, they carried out 965 inspections and collected 2,046 samples.

They filed 38 court cases, and decisions in 20 cases led to fines totaling ₹50 lakh.

They also seized food products and tested thousands of samples using a mobile laboratory.

Officials held programmes and training sessions to teach people about safe food and hygiene.
