775 Fast Track Courts Disposed 66,500 Cases in 2025
In 2025, 775 Fast Track Special Courts in India, including 398 exclusive POCSO Courts, disposed of 66,500 cases.
However, there were still 2.45 lakh cases pending by the end of the year.
The government has extended the scheme to set up these courts until March 2026, with a temporary extension to September 2026.
The courts were established to quickly handle cases of rape and offenses under the POCSO Act.
The government has released over Rs1,259 crore to ensure the smooth functioning of these courts.
Critics argue that the high number of pending cases shows that more needs to be done to improve the system.
