Delhi High Court Dismisses Sanju Verma's Defamation Plea
The Delhi High Court decided that a defamation case against Sanju Verma, a BJP spokesperson, could continue.
The case started because Verma allegedly made defamatory statements about Shama Mohamed, a Congress leader, on TV.
Verma wanted the case thrown out, claiming it wasn't valid.
She also said Mohamed wasn't a resident of Delhi, which is where the case was filed.
However, the court said there was enough reason to proceed with the trial, because Mohamed lives in Delhi and there was evidence others shared the statements.
The court found that Mohamed could indeed sue in Delhi.
Delhi High Court dismissed Sanju Verma's petition to reject a defamation suit.
The suit was filed by Congress leader Shama Mohamed.
Verma argued the suit lacked a valid cause of action.
Verma also questioned Mohamed's residency.
The court determined there were sufficient grounds to continue the trial.
