Meta Faces US Child Safety Trial, Indian Scrutiny Over Moderation

Meta is a big technology company that owns Facebook and Instagram.

Some people think these apps are not safe enough for kids.

A court in New Mexico told Meta to pay $567 million to help teens who needed mental-health support.

The court also said Meta must do more to protect young people on its apps.

Meta disagrees with the decision and says it will appeal.

Another big court case, brought by 29 US states, is scheduled to start on August 12 in California.

In India, Facebook accidentally blocked a post from the country's leader, Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meta said the block was a mistake and apologized.

India also wants Meta to take down bad content much faster, within three hours instead of 36.

Meta says it has a zero-tolerance policy for harmful material on its platforms.
