Bengal Government and Governor Narrow Differences on VC Appointments
Imagine the Bengal government and its governor were arguing about who should be the bosses (vice-chancellors) of the universities.
They couldn't agree!
The Supreme Court stepped in to help.
They made a special team to figure things out.
The good news is that most of the people they both wanted as bosses have now been agreed upon - 15 out of 17.
Only two universities still need to be sorted out.
The Supreme Court will keep an eye on things and make a final decision if needed.
It's like a compromise to make sure the universities can function smoothly.
The Supreme Court noted progress in resolving VC appointment disagreements.
15 out of 17 proposed VC names have been cleared by the government and governor.
The court previously constituted a committee to resolve the deadlock.
The court approved candidates who were the government’s second and third preferences.
The court adjourned the matter for four weeks.
