Sakhar Chauth 2026 Brings Ganpati Back To Maharashtra

Sakhar Chauth 2026 Brings Ganpati Back To Maharashtra

Sakhar Chauth is a festival celebrated after the main Ganesh festival ends.

It is observed in parts of Maharashtra, especially near the Konkan coast.

In 2026, it will take place on September 29.

The date is also Angaraki Sankashti Chaturthi, which is considered special for Ganesha devotees.

Families and community groups bring out Ganesha idols again.

Some people do this because they made a religious promise to Ganesha.

These special idols are called Navasache Ganpati.

People pray, decorate the area, sing aartis and may fast.
