French President Macron Sues US Podcaster Over Gender Claims
Emmanuel Macron and his wife are upset at a podcaster named Candace Owens.
They say she is spreading lies about the First Lady, claiming she was born a man.
Because of this, they are taking her to court in America to get the lies to stop.
They say these lies are hurting them.
This is not the first time someone has made these claims; in the past, the First Lady has won a case against people who spread the same rumors, although those people were eventually acquitted by a higher court.
This new lawsuit is a big deal because it shows leaders are worried about lies spreading online.
French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, are suing podcaster Candace Owens in the U.S. for defamation.
The lawsuit alleges Owens made false claims that Brigitte Macron was born a man.
The suit, filed in Delaware Superior Court, accuses Owens of a campaign of 'global humiliation' and 'relentless bullying'.
The Macrons' legal team describes Owens' claims as 'vile fabrications' and 'invasive, dehumanizing, and deeply unjust.'
This lawsuit follows Owens' repeated public statements, including a 2024 post on X asserting her belief in Brigitte's gender identity.
