IGU Blames IOA for Golf Confusion
There is a big argument between two groups in Indian golf.
The Indian Golf Union (IGU) says it is the only official group recognized by the government and international bodies.
They have already sent a list of golfers for the Asian Games.
But the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) recognizes a different group led by Harish Kumar Shetty.
The IGU says the IOA is causing confusion.
The IGU has sent names of 16 golfers (8 men and 8 women) for the Asian Games, but only 6 will be chosen based on world rankings.
The IGU also plans to send 4 golfers to the 2028 Olympics.
They are upset because the IOA is not working with them, even though the government and courts support the IGU.
IGU claims to be the sole recognized body for golf in India, backed by the government and international federations.
IOA recognizes a different faction led by Harish Kumar Shetty, causing confusion in golfer selection for the Asian Games.
IGU has submitted a list of 16 golfers (8 men and 8 women) for the Asian Games, with final selection based on world rankings.
Only 3 men and 3 women will be selected for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.
IGU plans to send 2 men and 2 women to the 2028 Olympics based on Olympic World Golf Rankings.
