Mizoram to Expand Ginger Farming After ‘Ginger Capital’ Recognition

Mizoram is a state in India that grows a lot of ginger.

In 2025, NITI Aayog called it the “Ginger Capital of India.”

The state government now wants farmers to grow even more ginger.

It also wants to help farmers grow sunflower, sesame, toor dal and mustard.

A new plant in Falkawn can process crops that produce edible oil.

The plant was created through the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana.

A farmers’ cooperative will run the plant for five years.

Officials hope processing crops will create better incomes and lasting jobs for farmers.
