Calcutta High Court Rules on Tattoo Removal for CAPFs Recruitment

Calcutta High Court Rules on Tattoo Removal for CAPFs Recruitment

A man named Jhantu Sarkar wanted to join the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) as a constable.

During his medical check-up on November 29, 2025, doctors found a tattoo on his arm, which made him unfit for the job.

He then removed the tattoo on December 1, 2025, and went for another check-up on December 4, 2025.

However, the doctors still found a mark from the tattoo removal and declared him unfit again.

Jhantu went to the Calcutta High Court to ask for a chance to be considered for the job.

The court said no, explaining that the rules say you can't remove a tattoo after the first medical check-up and before the second one to try to become fit.

The court also said that the medical check-up should be based on the condition of the person on the date of the first check-up.

So, Jhantu was not allowed to join the CAPFs.
