Jan Dhan Account Balances Surpass ₹2.75 Lakh Crore Mark
Imagine a special bank account for everyone in India, called Jan Dhan.
These accounts have now collected over 2.75 lakh crore rupees!
This is great news because it means many people are saving money.
Banks have also been working hard to help people who have these accounts but haven't used them in a while to start using them again.
They had a special program to remind everyone about these accounts and make sure their information was up-to-date.
Now, almost everyone in the country has a bank account.
While it's good that people are saving, some experts think the next step should be to help people borrow money from these accounts too.
Total balance in Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) accounts has surpassed ₹2.75 lakh crore.
As of October 22, 2025, there were 56.85 crore PMJDY accounts.

A Financial Inclusion (FI) Saturation Programme aimed to reactivate inoperative accounts.
