Delhi-NCR to Ban New Petrol, Diesel Cabs by 2026
Starting in 2026, new taxis and delivery vehicles that use gasoline or diesel will not be allowed in the Delhi-NCR area.
This is because these vehicles pollute the air a lot.
Companies that run these vehicles will have to use electric or CNG-powered cars and bikes instead.
This new rule is part of a plan to make the air cleaner and reduce pollution in the region.
The government is also watching these companies closely to make sure they follow the rules.
Neighboring states are encouraged to take similar steps too.
New petrol and diesel vehicles will be banned from cab and delivery fleets in Delhi-NCR from January 1, 2026.
The ban applies to light commercial vehicles, goods carriers, and two-wheelers used for deliveries.
The CAQM cited commercial vehicles' contribution to air pollution due to high usage and maintenance.
The shift mandates electric or CNG-powered vehicles for new commercial fleet additions.
The Delhi government's scheme regulates aggregators and delivery firms with over 25 vehicles.
