Tiger Relocation to Buxa Reserve Delayed
Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav chaired a meeting to talk about how to protect tigers and elephants in India.
The meeting included officials and experts who discussed problems like people and animals fighting over space, and how to make sure there are enough tigers and elephants.
They talked about plans to move tigers to new places, make more food for them, and how to take care of elephants better.
The minister also released some reports about these projects.
The meeting was important because it helps India keep its tigers and elephants safe and healthy.
However, the plan to move tigers from Assam to Buxa Reserve in West Bengal has been delayed because some villages are still inside the forest area.
The forest department is working to relocate these villages to make more space for tigers.
Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav chaired the 28th NTCA and 22nd Project Elephant Steering Committee meeting.
The meeting focused on addressing human-wildlife conflict and reviewing Project Cheetah and Project Elephant updates.
Key challenges discussed included staff shortages, financial constraints, habitat degradation, and invasive species management.
The NTCA approved several projects, including the expansion of Project Cheetah and tiger translocation plans.
The planned introduction of tigers from Assam to Buxa Tiger Reserve in West Bengal has been delayed due to villages still inside the core forest area.
