Haryana Cabinet allows nursing homes on leased residential plots
The government of Haryana made a new rule about nursing homes.
A nursing home is a small place where doctors take care of patients.
Before, a doctor could only build a nursing home on land that they owned.
Now, doctors can also open nursing homes on land that they rent.
This rule works for all kinds of doctors, including those who practice modern medicine and those who practice traditional medicine.
A meeting was held to decide this, led by the chief minister, Nayab Singh Saini.
The government says this will help people get healthcare closer to where they live.
Many people live in housing areas called colonies, and these areas need nursing homes nearby.
Doctors will have to pay a fee called conversion charges to use rented land.
This change makes it easier for doctors to help more people.
The Haryana Cabinet on Thursday cleared a proposal allowing nursing homes on leased plots in residential colonies.
Qualified doctors, both allopathic and AYUSH practitioners, are eligible under the new provision.
Earlier, such permission was granted only on plots owned by qualified doctors.
The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
The move aims to meet the growing need for accessible healthcare facilities within residential plotted colonies, subject to payment of conversion charges.
