Tamil Nadu Farmers Consume Waste in Protest
In Tamil Nadu, more than a hundred farmers protested in front of the district collectorate office.
They were very upset because they feel the government isn't listening to their problems.
The farmers marked their bodies with special ash and even ate something very dirty to show how desperate they are.
Their leader, Ayyakannu, said that the government promised to help them a lot, but didn't keep those promises.
They also said that the police stopped them from talking to the Prime Minister.
The farmers want the government to forgive their loans, give them fair prices for their crops, and help them in other ways.
Over 100 farmers in Tamil Nadu protested by consuming human waste and marking their bodies with religious ash.
The protest was led by Ayyakannu, State President of the National South Indian Rivers Linking Farmers Association.
Farmers accused the government of not fulfilling 56 election promises related to agriculture and farmers.
They alleged that the Tamil Nadu police prevented them from meeting the Prime Minister and detained them in Madhya Pradesh.
The farmers demanded a complete waiver of farm loans, remunerative prices for produce, and full crop insurance compensation.
