Kerala Suspends IPS Officer Over Assault Probe Interference

A senior police officer in Kerala, MR Ajithkumar, has been suspended because the government believes he interfered in an investigation.

The investigation was about an assault on some workers by the security team of the former chief minister, Pinarayi Vijayan.

The officer says he did nothing wrong, but the government thinks he tried to protect the people involved in the assault.

The case is about an incident that happened in December 2023, and the officer was in charge of law and order at that time.

The government has set up a special team to look into the case again, and they found that the officer might have influenced the investigation.

The officer has asked for more information to defend himself.
