Controversial 'Hope' Signage Reduces Pedestrian Space in Hyderabad
In Hyderabad, a big sign that says 'Hope' was put up on a pedestrian island near Cyber Towers.
This sign makes it harder for people to walk across the road, especially when there's a lot of traffic.
Someone who cares about road safety, named Lokendra Singh, found out that the sign was put up without asking the traffic police for permission.
The police and the city officials (GHMC) were told about this, but they said people can still cross the road easily.
However, some people who walk there say it's not easy at all and they have to squeeze through traffic.
The city officials said they will fix the problem, but nothing has changed yet.
Large 'Hope' signage installed on pedestrian island at Cyber Towers junction, reducing walking space.
RTI application revealed the signage was installed without traffic police approval.
GHMC and traffic police conducted a joint inspection and claimed pedestrians can cross conveniently.
Pedestrians report difficulties crossing the road due to the signage and congestion.
GHMC verbally assured corrective steps would be taken, but no action has been taken yet.
