Laryngectomy Survivors Set World Record
On Republic Day, a group of people who had their voices boxes removed due to cancer sang the National Anthem together.
They used special devices to help them speak.
This was the first time in the world that such a group sang the National Anthem together.
A special organization from London gave them a certificate for this achievement.
Many important people, including a famous actor and doctors, were there to watch and support them.
It was a very special day to show how strong and brave these people are.
Total laryngectomy survivors collectively rendered the National Anthem using electrolarynx devices and tracheoesophageal voice prostheses (TEP).
The event was certified by the World Book of Records, London, as the first-ever collective National Anthem recital by laryngectomy survivors globally.
The celebrations included the hoisting of the National Flag, the record-setting anthem, and a rendition of Vande Mataram.
Nandamuri Balakrishna, Chairman & Managing Trustee of NBTR Memorial Cancer Foundation and MLA, attended the event along with hospital board members, senior oncologists, staff, and a World Book of Records representative.
The event symbolized the power of rehabilitation in restoring confidence and dignity after total laryngectomy, with survivors being felicitated.
