Madhya Pradesh Colleges Must Report Student Deaths Monthly
Madhya Pradesh wants colleges to report student suicides and other unnatural deaths every month.
This is the first time the Higher Education department will collect this information monthly.
Colleges must send details about any incidents from the previous month.
If nothing happened, they still have to send a report saying “Nil.”
The report must be submitted online by the 20th of each month.
Officials will discuss this system at a meeting on September 8.
One college principal said his college already has a counsellor for students under stress.
The department will also discuss attendance, complaints, staff payments and university grades.
Madhya Pradesh’s Higher Education department will begin collecting monthly data on student suicides and unnatural deaths.
Every college must report incidents from the previous month, or submit a mandatory “Nil” report if none occurred.
Reports must be submitted through a Google form by the 20th of every month.
The reporting requirement will be discussed during a September 8 departmental review meeting by video conference.
Other agenda items include student counselling, unauthorised absenteeism, complaints, staff payment delays and university performance.
