LIC Boosts Stakes in 76 Firms, Adds 13 New Stocks in Q2 FY26
Imagine LIC is like a big investor with a giant piggy bank for stocks.
In the last few months, LIC decided to buy more shares in 76 different companies, like giving them a little extra boost.
They also decided to buy shares in 13 new companies they hadn't invested in before, like exploring new toy stores.
However, they also sold off some shares in 81 other companies, perhaps to buy the new ones or those they liked more.
Even though they bought a lot, the total value of all their stocks went down a little bit because the overall stock market wasn't doing too well.
Some of their biggest new investments were in companies like BSE and Yes Bank.
Their biggest increases in shares were in State Bank of India, Sun Pharmaceuticals, and HCL Technologies.
But they did sell some shares in HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Larsen & Toubro.
LIC made net equity purchases of nearly ₹21,700 crore in the September 2025 quarter.
The insurance giant increased its holdings in 76 listed firms and reduced its stake in 81.
LIC added 13 new stocks to its portfolio, including BSE Ltd, Yes Bank, and ABB India.
Despite buying activity, LIC's total portfolio value declined by 1.7% to ₹16.09 lakh crore due to market downturn.
Major stake increases were seen in State Bank of India, Sun Pharmaceuticals, and HCL Technologies, while HDFC Bank saw the largest reduction.
