HC Directs Committee to Inspect Kanjurmarg Dumping Site
The Bombay High Court has asked a special team of important government officers to quickly visit the Kanjurmarg dumping site.
They need to find short-term solutions to reduce pollution that is making nearby homes unlivable.
The court is worried about the health of people living near the dumping site.
They want the team to see the problems firsthand and suggest fixes.
The court also mentioned that dumping sites can be a good source of money if managed properly.
The next hearing is scheduled for December 22.
Bombay High Court directed a high-level committee to inspect Kanjurmarg dumping site and provide short-term measures to address pollution.
The court expressed concern over the impact of pollution on the right to life of residents near the dumping site.
NGO Vanashakti filed a PIL challenging environmental clearances for the Kanjurmarg dumping ground.
The committee, led by the state Chief Secretary, was constituted earlier this year to address issues related to dumping grounds in city areas.
The court postponed the hearing to December 22 due to the state assembly winter session in Nagpur.
