DDA Halts Leasehold to Freehold Conversion
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has stopped converting leasehold properties to freehold because they are updating the rates.
The Land and Development Office (L&DO), another agency, has also stopped conversions and is using the Delhi government's circle rates to decide the new prices.
The DDA's online portal for conversions is not working right now.
The L&DO manages about 60,000 properties, and by 2021, around 35,000 of them had been converted to freehold.
The DDA last updated its conversion rates in 2011.
Leasehold means the government owns the land, and you can use it for a set time.
Freehold means you own the land and building completely.
The DDA and L&DO will likely start conversions again once the Delhi government sets new circle rates.
DDA has halted leasehold to freehold conversions due to rate revisions.
L&DO has also stopped conversions and adopted Delhi government's circle rates.
DDA's online portal for conversions is currently not functional.
L&DO manages around 60,000 properties, with 35,000 converted to freehold by 2021.
Conversion rates were last updated by DDA in 2011.
