Supreme Court Clears Decade-Delayed Kanchipuram Bus Terminus Construction

Supreme Court Clears Decade-Delayed Kanchipuram Bus Terminus Construction

Kanchipuram is getting a new bus terminus at Ponnerikarai.

The old bus terminus is about 60 years old and is too small.

It is also in the middle of town, where buses add to traffic jams.

The government chose land near the Chennai-Bengaluru national highway for the new facility.

A private education trust argued that the land belonged to it.

Courts stopped the project while they considered the dispute.

The Supreme Court rejected the trust’s case in August.

Work has now started on the new terminus.

People hope it will make bus travel easier and reduce congestion.
