Mizoram Minister Advocates 'Land-Linked' for Northeast
A minister from Mizoram said the Northeast part of India should be called 'land-linked' instead of 'landlocked' because it has better connections now.
She talked about this at a big meeting in Bengaluru.
She said new train lines, roads, and internet like 4G and 5G help people in remote areas learn and sell things like handmade clothes and herbs.
She also said the Northeast should focus on nature tourism, clean energy, and protecting its culture.
Mizoram Health Minister Lalrinpuii proposed calling the Northeast 'land-linked' instead of 'landlocked'.
The suggestion was made at an international conference on the Northeast in Bengaluru.
Improved connectivity through projects like the Agartala-Akhaura railway line and Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport project was highlighted.
Technological advancements such as 4G and 5G have enabled remote areas to access the same education and skills as urban areas.
The minister emphasized the global demand for Northeast's handloom, handicraft, and medicinal herbs, and the focus on eco-tourism and clean energy.
