Delhi High Court Grants Bail to NewsClick's Prabir Purkayastha
Imagine a news website's boss, Prabir Purkayastha, got into legal trouble.
The Delhi High Court has said he doesn't need to go to jail right away.
This is because of two cases: one about money from other countries and another about money being moved around.
This decision is in response to something he asked for a long time ago.
Earlier, he was arrested in a different case but the highest court said the arrest was wrong.
Also, another person from the news website, Pranjal Pandey, was also given the same benefit.
Now they don't have to worry about being arrested yet.
Delhi High Court granted anticipatory bail to NewsClick founder Prabir Purkayastha.
The bail covers cases related to foreign funding and money laundering.
The court order addresses pleas filed by Purkayastha in 2021.
Purkayastha was previously arrested in a UAPA case, with the Supreme Court later invalidating the arrest.
Anticipatory bail was also granted to NewsClick director Pranjal Pandey in a case registered by Delhi Police.
