SC Declines Waqf Deadline Extension
The Supreme Court of India recently said no to requests to extend the deadline for registering Waqf properties.
The deadline is 6 December 2025.
People who need to register their properties were told to go to the Waqf Tribunal if they have problems.
The court said that the Tribunal is the right place to solve any issues.
Some people said there are problems with the website and other hurdles, but the court still told them to go to the Tribunal.
The court also said that if there are technical problems, people can still ask the Tribunal for help.
So, everyone needs to make sure they file their applications before the deadline.
The court also said that some parts of the new law about Waqf properties are on hold, but the rest of the law is still in effect.
The government also started a website called UMEED to help manage Waqf properties.
Supreme Court declined to extend the 6 December 2025 deadline for Waqf property registration.
Court directed applicants to approach the Waqf Tribunal for relief.
Applicants raised concerns about procedural hurdles and technical issues with the UMEED portal.
Court acknowledged technical challenges but emphasized seeking relief through the Tribunal.
Applicants must file representations before the Tribunal before the deadline.
