Chouhan, Dhami Back One Nation, One Election Proposal
Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke about holding major elections at the same time.
This idea is called One Nation, One Election.
They said frequent elections use a lot of government time and money.
Teachers, police officers and other officials may have to stop their usual work to help run elections.
The leaders said holding elections together could let officials focus more on public services.
Dhami also said election rules can temporarily affect government projects.
Chouhan asked religious leaders to explain the proposal to the public.
Both leaders said the idea should be considered for national interest and better governance.
Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami backed simultaneous elections at a Haridwar seer gathering.
Chouhan said holding Lok Sabha and state assembly elections together could reduce time, expenditure and administrative demands.
Both leaders said repeated elections divert teachers, officials, police and security forces from regular government work.
