This idea became popular after young people protested about an exam paper leak in New Delhi.
A dating app called happn asked more than 1,000 Indian singles about this.
A lot of people said they noticed someone attractive at a protest.
Many people think it is nice to see someone without fancy clothes or prepared conversations.
They think this makes a person seem real and genuine.
Passion was the quality people liked most in a protest crowd.
Most people just want to be authentic when dating.
So protest dating shows that being yourself may be a great way to find love.
35% of Indian singles surveyed said they noticed an attractive stranger at a protest and wished they could meet them again.
The trend gained attention after the Gen-Z protest against the NEET paper leak at Jantar Mantar.
happn's Freedom to Love Index surveyed more than 1,000 Indian singles about dating, authenticity and attraction.
42% of respondents said the biggest form of romantic freedom was simply being authentic.
Passion was the top attractive quality at 31%, followed by empathy and kindness at 25% and a good sense of humour at 24%.
