Kavitha Seeks 35% Profit Share for Singareni Workers

Kalvakuntla Kavitha led a protest in Hyderabad about the needs of coal mine workers.

She asked the government and Singareni Collieries to address workers’ unresolved problems.

One demand was for workers to receive 35% of the company’s profits.

She also called for better medical reviews and for a problem involving workers’ names to be fixed.

Kavitha asked for vacant Junior Assistant jobs to be filled.

She also wanted jobs for some workers’ dependants and land for workers to build homes.

Other demands included new coal blocks and no income tax for Singareni workers.

She said workers’ contribution to the state’s economy should be recognised.
