Tripura LoP seeks reconsideration of 10,323 teachers' case
The Leader of Opposition in Tripura, Jiten Chowdhury, has asked the government to think again about the case of 10,323 teachers who lost their jobs.
He says the teachers were fired because of a small mistake, not because of any wrongdoing.
He wants the government to either ask the court to give the teachers their jobs back or make a new law to protect their jobs.
He also says that the teachers were hired under a policy from 1980, not a later rule that some people are talking about.
He believes the government should do this because it is the right thing to do and because the ruling party promised to help these teachers before the elections.
Tripura LoP Jiten Chowdhury seeks reconsideration of 10,323 teachers' case after Calcutta High Court verdict on West Bengal teachers.
Teachers were terminated in 2014 on procedural grounds, not corruption, unlike the West Bengal case.
Chowdhury argues recruitment was based on a 1980 policy, not unnotified 2003 rules.
He urges the government to approach the court for reinstatement or enact a validation law.
Chowdhury highlights the humanitarian aspect and the ruling party's pre-election commitments.
