Bridge Green and Hartree Sign Up to $1 Billion Lithium Deal
Bridge Green recycles old and scrap lithium-ion batteries to recover useful materials.
Hartree is a company that trades energy and other commodities.
The two companies agreed to work together on recycled lithium carbonate.
The agreement will last at least eight years.
Hartree plans to buy about 10,000 metric tons of the material each year and help sell it.
Hartree is also investing money in Bridge Green’s expansion.
Bridge Green plans to build or expand refining facilities in the United States and India.
The first lithium carbonate shipments are expected in 2028.
The companies say the deal could help the United States rely less on imported lithium.
Bridge Green and Hartree announced an eight-year lithium carbonate agreement valued at an estimated $500 million to $1 billion at current market conditions.
Hartree will receive exclusive marketing rights and purchase approximately 10,000 metric tons of Bridge Green’s lithium carbonate annually.
Hartree is also investing in Bridge Green’s bridge financing round to support battery recycling and critical-mineral refining expansion.
Bridge Green’s first lithium carbonate shipments under the agreement are projected for 2028, with planned facilities in the United States and India.
The companies said the deal aims to strengthen domestic access to recycled lithium amid efforts to build more resilient critical-mineral supply chains.
