Chandigarh Bans 6 Aggressive Dog Breeds, Implements New Pet Rules
Chandigarh has created new rules about dogs to help keep everyone safe!
Six types of dogs that are considered aggressive, like Pitbulls and Rottweilers, are now banned.
This means you can't get new dogs of these breeds anymore.
If you already have one of these dogs, you have 45 days to register them.
After that, owners of these breeds must make sure their dogs wear a muzzle and are on a leash when they go outside.
There are also new rules about how many dogs you can have at home, depending on how big your house is.
Dogs are not allowed in many popular public places like Sukhna Lake and the Rock Garden.
Everyone who owns a dog must clean up after them when they go to the bathroom outside.
Also, people who breed dogs, run pet shops, or feed stray dogs need to register with the city.
Chandigarh has banned six aggressive dog breeds: American Bulldog, American Pitbull, Bull Terrier, Cane Corso, Dogo Argentino, and Rottweiler, under new bye-laws.
Existing owners of these banned breeds have a 45-day grace period to register their pets; new registrations for these breeds will not be permitted.
Owners of banned breeds must ensure their dogs are muzzled and leashed in public, with penalties including potential confiscation for violations.
Pet ownership is now limited based on house size, with a maximum of four dogs allowed in a one-kanal property.
New regulations require registration for dog breeders, pet shops, trainers, and community dog feeders, and owners must clean up pet waste in public.
