India Rejects Joint Panel with Bhutan on River Management

India Rejects Joint Panel with Bhutan on River Management

India's central government doesn't plan to create a special group with Bhutan to manage rivers.

These rivers flow from Bhutan into India, sometimes causing floods.

The state government of West Bengal, led by Mamata Banerjee, wanted this group to help with the flooding, but the central government said no.

Instead, they will continue to use existing teams to deal with the floods, which impact areas in North Bengal and Assam.
