JeM Reportedly Uses Masood Azhar’s ‘Sacrifice’ to Recruit

Indian agencies say Jaish-e-Mohammad is using a new recruiting strategy.

The group is reportedly telling young people that its leader, Masood Azhar, is very ill and has suffered major family losses.

This story is being used to make recruits feel sympathy for him.

Recruits are also reportedly encouraged to join the group and seek revenge.

The propaganda includes Azhar’s speeches and other radical material.

Some of this material is allegedly being sent to groups operating in India.

Indian agencies say some people influenced by the material may be willing to carry out attacks.

The report also says this approach could make it harder to trace any attack back to Pakistan.
