India’s Digital Payments Boom Has Yet to Spur Investing

India’s Digital Payments Boom Has Yet to Spur Investing

Many people in India use digital payments, but far fewer invest in stocks or mutual funds.

An EY India report says that having the ability to pay digitally does not automatically make investing feel easy.

Some people find investments confusing or worry that their value may change.

Others may not know whom to trust for advice that fits their needs.

The report says tools such as Aadhaar, UPI, and Account Aggregator could make it easier to start investing.

It also says AI could help explain choices and tailor guidance.

But making investing faster is not enough.

People also need clear information, suitable options, and protection as they invest.
