8th Pay Commission Closes Data Window, Begins Consultations
The 8th Central Pay Commission is a government group that looks at how much people who work for the central government should be paid.
They asked all ministries and departments to send in information about salaries and allowances.
The deadline for sending this information was July 31, 2026, and now the commission has all the data.
Next, they will talk with employee unions, pensioner groups, and other people to hear their ideas.
After these talks, they will write a report with suggestions for new pay.
The government will decide whether to use those suggestions.
The whole process could finish by early 2027, and then salaries might change.
The 8th Central Pay Commission has closed its online data submission window for ministries, departments, and union territories.
The commission will now analyze the collected data and hold consultations with employee unions, pensioner groups, and other stakeholders across Delhi, Chennai, Puducherry, and Chandigarh.
Final recommendations are expected around 18 months after the commission’s constitution on 3 November 2025, likely in early 2027.
The commission’s work includes estimating the cost of salary revisions, revising allowances, and proposing a new pay structure for about 1.3 crore central government employees and pensioners.
The commission will submit its final report to the Union government, which may accept or modify the recommendations before any salary changes take effect.
