MTV International Music Channels Shutting Down by 2025
MTV, the music channel that was once very popular, is closing its music channels in many countries by the end of 2025.
This includes MTV Music, MTV Hits, and blocks showing music from the 80s and 90s.
The channel started in 1981 and was very important in music and pop culture.
However, it has been losing viewers because people now prefer watching music on YouTube, TikTok, and other online platforms.
Some people are sad because MTV was a big part of their youth and helped discover new music.
In the UK, MTV used to reach over 10 million homes in 2001, but now it only reaches about 1.3 million.
The company that owns MTV, Paramount Skydance, is also making changes and cutting jobs.
While some MTV channels will still be available in the US and the UK, they will focus more on entertainment than music.
