Convict Sentenced to Death in 9-Year-Old Girl’s Rape-Murder Case

A man named Chhatrapal Singh Rawat was sentenced to death for the abduction, rape, and murder of a 9-year-old girl in Datia, Madhya Pradesh.

The incident happened during a wedding ceremony in May 2022.

The girl's body was found the next day with visible injury marks.

The court initially sentenced Rawat to death in December 2022, but he challenged the verdict in the High Court.

The High Court remanded the case back to the trial court for a procedural error.

After reviewing all evidence and recording the Investigating Officer's testimony, the court again sentenced Rawat to death.

The court stated that the strictest punishment was necessary for such heinous crimes against girls.

The death sentence is being viewed as a significant step towards justice for the victim's family.

Further legal proceedings will now take place in the High Court.
