AFC Announces Launch of Nations League
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced it will start a new tournament called the AFC Nations League.
This is similar to a tournament that started in Europe in 2018.
The idea is to have more games where teams play against others of similar skill levels.
This will help teams improve and have better chances to qualify for big tournaments like the World Cup.
The AFC said they decided to do this after seeing that it's getting harder to find good matches due to costs and other problems.
Another football group in Africa also said they will start a similar tournament in 2029.
AFC announces the launch of the AFC Nations League to boost competition among member countries.
Inspired by UEFA's Nations League introduced in 2018.
Aims to address challenges like limited opponent availability, rising costs, and logistical complexities.
Confederation of African Football (CAF) also announced a similar tournament starting in 2029.
The new league will help teams play more games against similarly ranked sides, improving their chances of winning and qualifying for major tournaments.
