Indian Pharma Sector Growth in FY27
The Indian pharmaceutical sector is expected to grow steadily in the next fiscal year, mainly because more people in India are buying medicines and there's more work in making medicines for other countries.
The domestic market is expected to grow by 12.7%, and the part of the business that makes medicines for others is expected to grow by 9.9%.
However, the business in the US is expected to shrink by 9.3% because of a strong previous performance.
The sector is also facing higher costs for things like shipping and power, which might reduce profits.
There's also some uncertainty because one company stopped making a certain medicine due to quality issues.
Overall, the sector is expected to recover in the long term.
Indian pharma sector expected to grow 10% year-on-year in Q1 FY27.
Domestic market projected to grow 12.7% to ₹272 bn, driven by GLP-1 segment and new product launches.
CDMO/API segment expected to grow 9.9% to ₹89 bn due to increasing global demand and strong order book.
US business projected to decline 9.3% due to high base from Revlimid-related sales.
EBITDA margins expected to contract by 125 basis points to 24.6% due to higher input costs.
