Byju Raveendran's Aakash Stake Faces Legal Challenges
Byju Raveendran, the founder of Byju's, has a company called Beeaar Investco that owns a big part of Aakash, a test prep company.
Aakash is trying to raise money, and Beeaar is helping with that.
But there's a problem: Qatar, a country that lent money to Byju's, says Byju moved some Aakash shares illegally.
Qatar wants its money back and is asking courts to freeze those shares.
Lawyers say Beeaar's involvement is okay for now, but it might get into trouble later.
Meanwhile, Aakash is having other problems too, like its CEO quitting and a big group called Manipal now owning most of it.
Beeaar Investco, owned by Byju Raveendran, participated in Aakash's ₹250 crore rights issue, holding 16% stake.
Qatar Investment Authority alleges Byju Raveendran moved pledged Aakash shares to Beeaar, breaching loan agreements.
Singapore International Arbitration Centre ordered a worldwide freeze on Byju Raveendran's assets up to $235 million.
Aakash's board froze Byju's parent company TLPL's ₹25 crore subscription due to forex compliance concerns.
Manipal Group now owns 58% of Aakash, while TLPL undergoes insolvency proceedings.
