Karnataka Cabinet Vacancy Triggers Congress Leadership Talks

Karnataka’s Congress government has one empty position in its Cabinet.

Several party leaders want that position and are asking for different communities and regions to be represented.

Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar travelled to Delhi to discuss the issue with Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders.

Basavaraj Shivannavar, M. Krishnappa, Annapoorna Tukaram and Kampli Ganesh are among the names being considered.

There is also controversy involving Minister B. Nagendra and alleged problems in a tribal welfare programme.

Opposition parties are demanding that Nagendra resign.

Nagendra says he is being targeted and may resign if party leaders instruct him to do so.

Congress leaders are expected to make a final decision after their Delhi discussions.
