Ahmedabad Detains 9,334 Kilograms of Food Stock After Inspections

Ahmedabad's food safety team checked food businesses across the city in September.

They collected 612 food samples to test.

Tests found that 22 samples did not meet the required standards.

The department stopped the sale of 9,334 kilograms of food stock worth Rs 21.64 lakh.

It also closed or sealed 28 businesses and issued 404 notices.

Some food was destroyed because officials said it was unhygienic.

Inspectors found problems such as expired products, prohibited colouring and poor hygiene.

One detained ghee consignment was released after tests found it met the standards.

The department said inspections will continue.
