China Expands Satellite Network, US Warns of Growing Threat
China is building a huge number of spy satellites—more than 510—so it can watch what the United States and its friends are doing in the Pacific.
The US Space Force says these satellites let China see everything, even through clouds, and can help it plan attacks.
China also wants to make its own communication satellites so its military can keep talking even if the US tries to jam them.
The US thinks China might also have weapons that could shoot down other countries’ satellites.
Because of all this, the US is worried that China could become a big threat in space.
China has deployed over 510 intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance satellites.
US Space Force warns that China can monitor US and allied forces across the Indo‑Pacific.
China is upgrading navigation and remote‑sensing tech for high‑resolution, all‑weather imagery.
US officials fear China is developing counter‑space weapons and anti‑satellite capabilities.
US State Department accuses Chinese companies of providing imagery that could aid Iranian military operations.
