SEBI Finds No Evidence Vinod Adani Controlled FPIs

SEBI investigated whether two foreign investment funds were secretly controlled by Vinod Adani.

The investigation began after complaints received in June and July 2020.

The complaints concerned shares held from 2013 to 2018.

SEBI said it could not find proof that Vinod Adani directed the funds’ management or investment decisions.

It also said business or financial links alone are not enough to prove control.

Because control was not established, the alleged market-manipulation violations were not upheld.

However, Nasser Ali Shaban Ahli and Chang Chung-Ling were each fined ₹20 lakh for providing incomplete or incorrect information.

Other entities had already settled their proceedings by paying settlement amounts.
