Ahmad Vahidi Rises as Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Chief

Ahmad Vahidi is a senior Iranian military leader.

He joined the Revolutionary Guard soon after Iran’s 1979 revolution.

He later became the first leader of the Quds Force, which works with armed groups outside Iran.

He also held important government jobs, including defense minister and interior minister.

Argentina accused him of helping plan a 1994 bombing in Buenos Aires, and international sanctions have targeted him.

Vahidi has rejected the political meaning of such pressure by continuing to rise inside Iran’s leadership.

He supported missiles, drones and air defenses as tools to protect Iran.

The article says his new position shows how powerful the Revolutionary Guard has become during the current conflict with the United States and Israel.

It also describes him as both fiercely loyal to Iran’s system and willing to use tactical compromises when useful.
