Rahul Gandhi Slams Modi Government Over Unemployment at Student Event

A big Indian political leader named Rahul Gandhi spoke to students in the city of Prayagraj.

He said that in India, only 12 out of every 1,000 young people can find a permanent job.

He blamed some government decisions, like demonetisation and the new GST tax, for hurting the factories that make things in India.

He also said banks do not give loans to students and small business owners who want to start their own companies.

He told the students that getting a government job is very hard too, because only about one in 150 people passes the exams.

He warned young people not to waste all their time on apps like Instagram and WhatsApp.

He said India's 40 crore young people and the data they create can power the country's future.

A deputy chief minister from the ruling party, Keshav Prasad Maurya, disagreed and called the event a "flop show."

He said the event was really just a rebranded party meeting and that young people support Prime Minister Narendra Modi instead.
