Bengal Rains Kill Three as Mud Houses Collapse in Bankura

Bengal Rains Kill Three as Mud Houses Collapse in Bankura

Heavy rain fell across parts of West Bengal for two days.

The rain weakened the walls of two mud houses in Bankura district.

One house collapsed in Sonamukhi, killing 76-year-old Beli Ruidas.

A second house collapsed in Simlapal while an elderly couple was sleeping.

The couple, Palku Baske and Soma Baske, later died at a hospital.

Neighbours and police helped rescue them from the damaged house.

Beli’s family said they had received money to build a new house, but it was not enough to finish it.

Rain may ease slightly on Thursday, but some southern districts could still receive rain until September 8.
