Bengaluru Police Expose Fake Officer Profiles Used in Furniture Fraud

Police in Bengaluru say a group made fake Facebook accounts pretending to be senior government officers.

They used the officers’ names and pictures so people would trust them.

The scammers then asked victims for money.

One story involved furniture supposedly being sold cheaply by a CRPF commandant who had moved away.

More than 10 people in Karnataka reportedly lost money.

Police traced the investigation to Rajasthan and detained a juvenile on August 24.

The juvenile was sent to a remand home after appearing before the Juvenile Justice Board.

Police are looking for other members of the suspected network and have warned people to check social media identities before sending money.
